Screenwriter Request

I have written or co-written five screenplays that have sold to Hollywood and I need some guidance from a commercial airline pilot on protocol, how a pilot would actually talk to the tower, what certain things are called, what a pilot would do in certain situations, etc.

For instance, that long connector between the gate and plane -- the corridor where people walk -- what's that called? And the accordion-like thing that stretches from the corridor to the plane doorway?

If someone would like to answer some questions for an upcoming movie, please write to me at [email protected].

Thanks so much!
Diana

The accordion-like thing that stretches from the corridor to the plane doorway is called a canopy.

Please get some help from any run-of-the-mill airline guy. Most every movie I've ever seen that deals with aviation is completely wrong, cheesy, and totally inaccurate. Any airline pilot will be able to tell you just about anything you'd want to know for a script.

a canopy? ive only ever heard it as a jetway

The tunnel thing we all walk down is called a toilet. The airplane is called the butt. The passangers are called the turds.

Now its up to you to come up with some kind of catchy movie line that we will all remember forever.

Good Luck!

listen to any of the Live air traffic control links to get a good idea of how things are said on the radio.

You may need a pilot to help you figure out what they are saying, it can be confusing.

This just gave me a great idea. "Hollywood Aiation Consutants INC" I'll charge $100/Hour or a free dinner and be available to any screenwriter.

If the pattern is full, your request for a fly by will be denied. But that's OK you can do it anyway.
