TSA's new screening policy on Sept. 11.
"While screeners won't be subjected to searches, airline pilots will still have to go through security screening checkpoints. "
source: 9NEWS.com | Colorado's Online News Leader | Airport screeners bypassing security sidenote: "It cost $12 million to outfit the TSA's 43,000 employees with the new uniforms and badges." |
I like the quote, " They're security professionals, they deserve to be treated that way."

Sounds like something Bill O'Reilly ought to get ahold of and bring out a few of the comments in that story - especially related to the quote above and the assertation that they should use their resources where the threat is - - -the aircrew included? With TSA agents having brought drugs, cash, and weapon on board within the last year - how many pilots have done the same?
Sounds like something the unions should make public and raise heck with the public! USMCFLYR |
Wow, Carrie Harmon, you are an absolute idiot and a disgrace!

Unless you're flying armed, every other LEGITIMATE federal law enforcement officer has to go through security. Even if you have your credentials, you still have to go through security. This policy is a farce.
Badges setting off metal detectors. What a sorry and pitiful justification. |
The TSA screeners are pieces of trash and should be treated as such.
Zero respect should be given to them. Yet another reason to be an FFDO. |

I've sent them a complaint letter, to the tune of "we have to, why don't you?" i suggest everyone do the same.

As an airline employee who works at the airport, as opposed to in flight, I do not have to go through security when coming into work either. That's how it is currently for all BNA employees including TSA who are autorized to work in the SIDA area. The only time we go through the checkpoint is when we are flying, or if it may be quicker than going through the employee entrance door. Useually TSA agents do go through security because that is where they are going to be working. To be fair (although judging from some of the things I've read on APC about the TSA they sometimes aren't) why should they have to go through security if I don't? TSA does setup random screening at the employee entrances to check bags, lunch boxes, etc.
Just my 2 cents. |
Yeah, well who's gonna check the TSOs' "lunch boxes?" And God knows the TSOs DO have lunch boxes - their mothers all pack them turkey sandwiches before they leave in the morning.

To add on to wfr2e's comments, each airport has its own security plan (which we all, assumingly, know the name of and probably shouldn't be posted on an internet forum).
Anyway, it is the airport who directs who (which employees) must go through security, not TSA. Some airports say anyone working the SIDA at their home airport doesn't have to get screened, some airports say visiting flight crews are not required to be screened, some say everyone does. |
Yeah, try to claim you don't have to pass security at your base. See how far that takes you.
