A F/O asked me how the Anton Chico Vortac got its name. I explained that he was a New Mexico ranch hand, so renowned for his skill at herding sheep that he was hired as the first air traffic controller in the Southwest.

I was wrenching the mighty 72 at EAL, MCI-SEA. Captain mentioned we’d be passing over Crazy Woman, WY. The patron saint of today’s SJW asked to come into the cockpit on arrival. She gave a a withering speech on how nasty it was to refer to the mentally or emotionally handicapped as “crazy”. The Boss just shook his head at her. F/O and I were snickering which didn’t hasten her departure, giving us “what for”.
