caribbean flying question
 

I was wondering if anyone has any information about flying in the caribbean? Looking for pretty much any general info you would have to offer. Hard or easy? Is it tricky going in and out of customs? How is the atc? Radar coverage? Do you enjoy it? Any likes/dislikes ...... ect.

I asked the same question about a month ago and got almost no response...

It's fun, most islands nickel and dime you to death.... landing fee, tie down fee, departure tax, etc for GA.
Have the FCC permit ....
Miami Center, Radio, San Juan Center, Radio cover most all of the Caribbean...
From what I remember I don't think there is Night VFR most anywhere....
all and all it's great flying... some places you'll need to keep an eye on your aircraft (i.e. Haiti)....

Any decent companies hiring down there? If so, who? What are their requirements? How is the QOL?

There is a bunch of shady part 135s operating from South Florida in anything from DC-3s to King Airs to Citations...

Based out of the USVI, they fly a couple DHC-6s on Wipline 13000s... you will need to have C-MES and 1500TT (but I think that they hire with a lot less) ... the only problem is that I don't think they fly at night (maybe seldom to shuttle aircraft) and you can loose instrument currency pretty quick.
