Mooning pilots...

Two pilots arrested, mooning traffic
Katie Shands Updated: 9/28/2008 4:35:29 PM Posted: 9/28/2008

Two pilots were arrested after an incident Friday on Alcoa Highway. The Alcoa Police Department responded to a call of an intoxicated and irate patron at El Sazon Mexicano Restaurant across from McGhee Tyson Airport.

Officers said they found 43-year-old Jeffery Saltis of Pittsburg mooning northbound traffic on Alcoa Highway. Police also saw 25-year-old Michael Etzel of Virgina taking pictures of Saltis.

Both men were pilots with United Express.

They have been charged with public intoxication, and Saltis faces a charge of indecent exposure.

United Express: the infamous airline that is always causing trouble, yet it does not really exist.

My guess is they worked for Mesa or TSA. Not trying to open a can of worms, just sayin maybe they thought they would live a little while they still could. You've got to feel for the pilots if either is the case. It's not their fault, its the darn management.

After they sobered up they were offered jobs as Alcoa Police Officers after the Alcoa City Council found out they would do the job for half the pay :D

Wanna know why regional pilots do not command the respect and pay that they used to? Partially because a small group of pilots managed to make it to the regionals without growing up and leaving high-school antics behind. Most people want to be responsible, do their jobs, represent the industry well, and be treated with the respect they earn.
I would not blame management for the irresponsible actions of those clowns. People like that only add fuel to negative stereotypes. Years ago, pilots were much more respected and were treated (and paid) accordingly. Maybe we can all have a better shot at enjoying professional pay and respect if certain individuals didn't make the pilot community look like a bunch of drunk teenagers playing "truth or dare."

Sounds like a good night to me :D But on a serious note, it is easy for one to judge on why "they are a disgrace" and "they should know better and be professionals" but everyone here knows the difference between those guys and someone else reading about them is they got caught. With the way this whole economy is going one, getting $h!t faced is probably their stress reliever. Hell, I know it's mine. I hope the consequences isn't gonna be an over-kill.
