Hiker Possibly Finds Items Of Steve Fossett

From MSNNC:
MAMMOTH LAKES, Calif. - A hiker in a rugged part of eastern California found a pilot’s license and other items possibly belonging to Steve Fossett, the adventurer who vanished on a solo flight in a borrowed plane more than a year ago, authorities said Wednesday.

The hiker, Preston Morrow, said he found a Federal Aviation Administration identity card, a pilot’s license, a third ID and $1,005 in cash tangled in a bush off a trail just west of the town of Mammoth Lakes on Monday. He said he turned the items in to local police Wednesday, after unsuccessful attempts to contact Fossett’s family.

“We have some ID that has the name Steve Fossett,” Mammoth Lakes police Investigator Crystal Schafer said. “They were turned in to us and are in our possession.”

Steve Fossett's ID's, cash, and a day later - a sweatshirt. But no wreckage. Very mysterious, it reminds me of the D.B. Cooper legend.

Doesn't look like a hoax, anyway.

Fossett plane found, sheriff says - CNN.com

Looks like he wasn't in the airplane. I suppose he tried to walk out and didn't make it, probably either injured or got dehydrated.

I'm thinking he either bailed out before the crash or more likely he walked away and storms and wind over the course of a year mangled the wreckage to its "non-survivable" condition.

It has been suggested that the presence of wildlife ensured that his remains will never be found.

I don't know why but I think he is still alive about to have a resurrection second only to Jesus. I just find it hard to believe in storms or not he smashes right into a mountain, his certificates survive the impact but there are no remains. I say he parachuted out, sprinkled various pieces of evidence knowing the new plastic license will last and is laying low and will surface while breaking some new aviation record.

Tupac ain't got $hit on Steve Fossett. We love you man!
