Reference Thread: Banner Ads
 

You know, this post got me to thinking. Where can I find that ad for the Crew Management Conference in Dubai in December, 2008? I know I've seen it before, but I can't seem to pin it down now. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a place I could go and easily retrieve the moving banner advertisements?

And so was born this thread. I'm sure I'll miss some, and I'm sure new ones will be added. SO, please add posts with those ads attached, and let's make this a handy Banner Ad reference tool. <wink emoticon removed -- see note below>

Not sure how this one will display here -- it's a bit different from the majority in the way it's constructed. Apparently, the image resides on pprune.org, so that might be a useful tidbit if you want to find it again.

There are a few that are Adobe Flash videos, and then there are the Google Ads. If somebody knows how to archive those here, please do so. :)

These ads become more invisible every day. I know they are there but my mind is focused on other things so I don't pay any attention to them.

just add adblockplus, and you dont even see any ads at all... when i saw the first thread about the annoying ads, I thought people were talking about some other site. I love firefox...

Crew Management Conference in Dubai - Google Search

Doesn't get much easier.

I think they've found a way around that. I now see the banners again. I've updated it but no luck and currently don't have the "block" option on the banners. Either a setting has changed in FF over the past two weeks or they've gotten clever. Time to try something else.

EDIT*** This thread does serve as a useful tool to update FF by right clicking on the banners and adding them to the definitions. When on ssssssllllllllloooowwwwwwwww hotel internet connections it greatly increases speed to get rid of the banners.

I thought it was too good to be true, about NoScript or AdBlock being able to work permanently. Hopefully the cleanup process of right clicking on new ads to add their new definitions or locations to NoScript will not be all that frequent. I hate advertising and will definitely be driven away from APC if it becomes too difficult to suppress all these ads. I have already greatly reduced my time here because of the ads, since my work computer does not have ad suppression.

I LOL'd at the first listing.

Now the banner itself has been butchered to allow the scroll-across-the-screen-click-me-click-me-I'm-only-a-harmless-survey-click-me-please type banner ad.

Here, in an effort to preserve our memory of what it used to look like when it becomes completely obscured, is the left-most element of the very distinct banner which gave this site a polished, professional look:

Here's the lowly sliver that repeats to make it look like one continuous masthead on your screen. This poor guy is getting abused so ads can "float" across the screen.
