Anybody recommend any apps they have found interesting/useful/entertaining for the iPhone. One of my favorites is iToner (not free-in the $10 neighborhood). It lets you create ringtones from songs in your iTunes library.
Here’re my picks: Pandora Radio (free!) – pick a song or an artist you like and it’ll create a “radio station” that plays similar music all day long… I like to plug my phone into the iHome clock radio I have at home and then listen to Pandora radio through the regular speakers… Shazam – (free!) as mentioned earlier, if you hear something on radio that you really like let Shazam listen to it for a few seconds it’ll tell you who the singer is and it’ll link you to iTunes to buy it if you want it… iTimeZone ($1.99)– a great time zone converter, especially for those of us who turn off the roaming feature overseas. You can set up your “favorite” cities (including GMT) which usually are my layovers and then you can convert the times back and forth with a simply spin of the wheel. A great app… Ambiance (99¢) – “white noise” generator which is very user friendly and has numerous choices of “sounds”. You can set it u for a specific time and it helps me to sleep on some flights (yes in the back while I’m deadheading or being commercial’ed… ;)) or at the hotel. FltCrew iLog ($19.99) – have not had a chance to buy it yet but will in the next few days. A few of my friends have used this logbook and they’re very pleased. I emailed the ‘owner’ with a question and had a reply within a few hours.. Seems to be a little pricey but I miss the APDL I had on my Treo and my friends tell me it only took them a few days to forgot about the APDL, the iLog sounds like a great product.. Looks cool, does it work with Protected AAC files; songs purchased from iTunes?
Edit: Nevermind, found the answer in their FAQ's. It does not work with them. Its your music you should be able to decide if you want it to be played when somebody calls. Aero Weather is a very cool free app.

Folks, let's keep this thread going, some great advice here.
Please tell what your favorite app does and possibly show a link - if not make sure you spell it out correctly so we can find it doing search... Can anyone suggest a program that'll let you open, make changes and save Word, PDF, Excel, etc. files? Thanks |

Yeah, it's really not that hard to create custom ring tones but a pain if you intend to do it a lot.

Favorite iPhone Apps?
I just became an iPhone convert a few weeks before Christmas (of course I acted surprised on Xmas morning). There seem to be some real gems buried in the app store (along with a bunch of duds) that really extend the usability of the phone.
So far I've found that I use the following on a daily basis: RTM (Remember the Milk) - I already had a pro account on the web so installing the app was a no brainier. Google Apps - All the Google apps with Goog-411 added, with voice search to boot! AP Mobile News - Nice little news reader with "local" story selection. AP stories only so I'm on the lookout for a decent RSS feedreader. Readdle Take Note - Takes voice notes, written notes, picture notes, and drawn notes and allows transfer between the desktop via wireless folder. Readdle Docs - Full featured document reader (PDF, .doc, .xls, etc....) that allows wireless transfer between desktop and phone. EZ Writer - Landscape keyboard for email, still looking for landscape SMS keyboard. Apps that are cool but I don't use everyday: Urban Spoon - Location aware restaurant finder Showtimes - Location Theater and Movie finder US Constitution - All articles and Amendments with notes too. Snap Tell - Find books, DVDs, and CDs online by snapping a picture with your phone. The app returns reviews, online vendors, wikipedia entries, and pricing and is frighteningly accurate. That's what I've found useful so far, what iPhone apps do you use on a daily basis that make your iPhone a more functional device? |
