Online MBA programs
Is there anyone out there who has earned their MBA online while working an airline schedule? If so, where from?
|
Funny you should ask - that's exactly what I intend to do. I'm looking at the University of PHX.
|
A few in my squadron have used American Military University, it's open to anyone.

I'm not flying for an airline right now, but I have been working on my MBA online at University of Phoenix. I have considered switching, because I heard a rumor that some employers think of UoPhx as a paper mill. That image is not helped by the people in my MBA classes that can't spell or think critically. I guess the university doesn't have the highest entry standards. When I asked them about that last week, their excuse was that most of those people should wash out and only the people who deserve degrees would actually have what it takes to finish. Why set people up to fail just to take their money?

the University of Illinois has a pretty good executive MBA program so if you can get weekends off through reserve or some other means, it could work out pretty well for you. Its probibly not the best MBA out there but the schedule and proximity to Chicago should make it commutable for some

What do you expect, U of Phoenix is a for profit organization. It's owned by a publicly listed company. And their $300 dollar per unit prices aren't exactly a bargain.
|
I think ERAU worldwide campus might offer the MBA online......not really sure though.
Check their website. |
Check Aspen U. I did a lot of researh today.

Got mine through the University of Wisconsin. Totally online, but you will probably become a slam-clicker as a result.
Great program, great professors. |

Great program, great professors. Thanks for the tip. Unlike University of Phoenix, I'm sure the University of Wisconsin actually is approached by headhunters and company recruiters. Do they have job placement assistance? How long did it take you to complete it? By the way, interesting article about University of Phoenix on Wikipedia. Wow - a lot of recent and current lawsuits... University of Phoenix - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Funny how there's a University of Phoenix ad on this page... |
MBA, Baker College, Flint, MI, 2004. Earned every credit using a hotel room high speed internet connection. Not a "paper mill". Each class lasts only 6 weeks, and you have to be on line at least 5 of 7 days in most cases. I learned alot, and don't regret the investment (about $9K). It's set up to qualify for GI Bill if you are eligible.
You write a paper in each class, and put them together in a capstone project at the end. Mine was on aviation (what else!) and correctly predicted the US Airways - America West merger, and American's reduction in aircraft types. Not rocket science, I know - but made me feel good! |
So what do you guys plan on doing with your MBA's?
Are there plenty of jobs available? And do they pay good? That's the question... |
