Man Trying 50 Jobs In 50 States
Here's an interesting idea to try. Wonder when and where he will try to be a pilot.
From KING5 News:
SEATTLE - It's hard enough to find just one job, but one enterprising young man plans to take on 50 different jobs in 50 states, all over the course of 50 weeks.
Daniel Seddiqui is hitting every state in search of the perfect job. It's week 11 and he's in Washington working as a marine biologist.
Seddiqui's career aspirations change with the tide.
"I was in a cubicle a year ago doing accounting and now look at my cubicle," he said.
He's the new guy this week, working with People for Puget Sound, a non-profit group working to protect and restore the sound.
"Hopefully we'll teach him a little bit about marine biology and a lot about how people can take action," said Jamie Wine, People for Puget Sound.
It's Seddiqui's latest in a long line of jobs. He embarked on an all-you-can-work buffet after struggling to get a job in his trained field of economics.
"Horrible. I traveled around the country and failed and failed - 40 interviews easily," he said.
So instead of getting one job, Seddiqui decided he'd get 50. Now he's living the map, working 50 jobs in 50 states over the course of 50 weeks.
So far, he's learned manufacturing in Minnesota, driven a tractor in South Dakota and made maps. He's liked pretty much all his careers, with one exception.
"Wyoming. I thought being a park ranger would be really cool, but the people I worked with were not... cool," said Seddiqui.
Not everything is a perfect fit, but the point is to try. Seddiqui hopes he'll inspire people who need a job or want to change jobs. He's learned if you're unhappy, maybe it's time to let go and try something new.
"And just to think, four months ago I had nothing - absolutely nothing," he said.
Seddiqui is getting paid for many of his jobs and he finds people to host him in each state, so he hasn't had to stay in a hotel yet. He hopes to someday write a book about his cross country adventure.
