Your favorite pocket-pc apps (Windows mobile 5 & 6)
So for us windows mobile users (to keep the iphone topic on topic ;p).
What are your favorite apps and tweaks for your windows mobile phone? (with links if possible).
As a disclaimer, I take no responsibility if any of these programs, links or anything you do as a result of this topic messes up your phone or anything else. It has worked fine for me, but understand that advanced knowledge might be needed on some apps.
Myself I have an Xperia X1 from Sony with Windows mobile 6.1, and so far my favorite apps/tweaks are:
(Some of these need registration for download. However xda and modaco are two very good forums for these kind of program development)
Category - Freeware:
- Advanced config - Makes you able change some nice hidden settings on your phone.
- Batti - Nice little app that creates a colored battery indicator at the very top of your screen just a few pixels wide, with 10% increments
- Opera Mini - A very good web browser, far beats internet explorer, and opera mobile too.
You can download it by going to opera.com on your phone's browser to get the correct version
- Total Commander - A must have for the serious tweaker. Lets you delete or change system files, and edit the registry.
- TouchResponse - A niftly little program for those that have a touchscreen, it makes the phone do a itsy bitsy vibrate every time you hit the screen.
- Pimpackup - An excellent backup program that can backup all your contacts, sms'es, appointments, tasks etc. Excellent for when you have to do a hard reset, or some program killed your contacts.
- Nodata - If you don't have a good data plan, and you don't want your phone connecting to 3G etc. Let's you disable all 3g/gprs etc traffic from your phone.
- Youtubeplayer - Anyone else having problems with the streaming media over wifi etc?. With this, you can surf youtube wherever.
- BePilot.com - A site with a few aviation related programs. Including a holding pattern calculator, E6B program, checklist program, timers etc.
Category - Commercial:
Logbook pro for pocket PC - If you have logbook pro on your pc, then this is the program for you. Makes you able to check your logbook stats wherever you are, and log flights on your cell and then sync it to your laptop/desktop when you get home.
WXSYS - Currently in BETA for windows mobile . This program lets you donwload METAR, TAFs, NOTAMs, sunset/sunrise, radar, satellite, winds aloft etc. This is currently a beta version, so use this program at your own risk!
Coreplayer - A video player that basically plays all formats on your windows mobile phone, though costly
So, there's my current apps.
