Interesting, I just heard on the news tonight, there is a community of high end single family homes in Central NJ that have to either have major repairs to the roofs or have them replaced completely. Unfortunately, in the HOA, they are forbidden from suing the builder (the builder got that in the HOA). So now, they all have to repair the roofs because their shoddy. Guess who the HOA just approved for the work?

STAY AWAY FROM HOAs !!!!

Sorry but that applies to any builder and that's why you need to review the covenant rules before you buy just like you review the contract when building a house...

To say stay away from HOA based on your story as like saying stay away from buying a house because Countrywide (or BoA) is losing money...

Just my biased 1/4¢

So many new faces in mine, every time a person moves in, another one leaves via ambulance never to return again. I would like to submit to the HOA a new, more fitting name: "Hospice Haven"
