Wow, here I thought Pilots were whiners..........
Ok My fiance works as a Pharmacuetial Sales rep, she finds out today if she gets to keep her (very ucrative)job as a sales Rep. She decided to check out her version of the "Crack Pipe" (CafePharma) to see what was going on and I was shocked at some of these people's responses. They all make a lot of money, they all will MOST LIKELY have a very nice severance package and lets all remember that they won't start off at 20K commuting at a regional....
I would love to tell these people that if they think they have it bad they should check out APC :) King Pharmaceuticals - Cafepharma Message Boards |

Philip Graham said it best. We've become a nation of whiners. YouTube - Graham: U.S. Become 'Nation Of Whiners' As to the FedEx pilot, my wife and I paid 36K in federal taxes. We paid over 8K to GA and in my mind the only state more messed up that GA is IL (LOL!). In the end I’d rather make more and pay more than make less to pay less. It’s just nice  to see our government, both Federal and State, **** our hard earned money away. |

So many of you here chastise new pilots for whining about the pay and QOL and the typical response is something like this: "you knew what you were getting into, stop whining",
Maybe the troops knew what they were getting into, they should do their job and stop whining as well... While I don't mean any of this and I appreciate the job they do this should illustrate my point that some people like pilot or troops have the right to demand (whine) improvement. |

You nearly had me release upon you a written tirade of which you have yet to have had the privilege to see before... We are all volunteers... There are VERY few if any Vietnam era draftees still in service today. We know full well what we signed up for. To call us whiners? When? We get paid squat, have the worst living conditions ever... Tell me when you as a commuter at a ****ty hotel ever had to think about a mortar hitting your tent and blowing your ass to hell and back? And that is even if you get a tent... Do you even know how many nights we spend in some god forsaken hole in the ground? The term Dig-In has real meaning. We don't complain about QOL, Benefits, or Pay. We are here for a higher cause, I won't wave a flag and say we are here to fight for freedom, and protect the States... Albeit true, however, We are here for our fellow soldiers. We are one. I would gladly die for the man/woman next to me. No matter race, creed, or color. I say again, We are one. We accomplish missions and tasks that most corporations are envious of... If the pilot group could take something from us, it would be UNITY. Our all for one and one for all mentality, would serve a good purpose for you... However, Some of you dont get it. You name me one other profession, that you have a very good possibility of getting shot at, blown up, or otherwise hurt for 2,200.00 a month... My point being, you should never ever, I mean ever compare the Military to a pilot group. We do things you could only imagine. We are a cohesive group. You are a bunch of smaller groups that sometimes work together... The apples and oranges addage comes into play here. How you can even begin to compare the two, I dont know. And no, soldiers do not have the right to complain... As a soldier you give up certain rights and privleges... Free speach is one of them. You do as you are told, all the way up. No complaints, no if ands or buts. Do your job. That is all. Everyone has a job, if we all do it, then we survive(mostly) and get to go home. If one person does not do his/her job dozens are in danger. We dont get meetings, votes, or petitions to try and change what we think needs changing... That is about it, this post kinda long, but nothing like the scalding one I was going to put up. |

I was simply illustrating flawed logic that some people have on this forum. I am not comparing the two together. I was comparing the reasoning used by other users on this forum to put other people down. I will spell this out for you: If a regional FO is considered a whiner because he complains about his QOL just because he made the decision to become pilot then using that logic that logic anyone unhappy with their job is considered a whiner. I happened to use troops as an example simply because the previous person used it in his/her post.
Don't accuse me of putting your profession down because that's the last thing I intended to do. |

Or the millions they pay Blackwater VS paying for our troops to have better equipment. Blackwater uses that money to buy better equipment and pay their "contractors" 3-4 times more then an E-5 with 6yrs makes. In the meantime Marines out there have to field rig their HMMWV from small arms fire some even ordered parts with their own money.

AMEN brother!! And don't forget about all the other federal holidays. Around where I live their benefit packages are outstanding, too. Most put in their 30 years and retire in their early to mid 50s with a pension that pays about 100% of what they were making ($50k +) when they got out. They get that until the day they die and it will never be lost in bankruptcy court. AT MOST, the district just starts reducing the benefit package offered to new hires. Sorry to go off, but my old neighbors and pretty much everyone in my wife's family are teachers so I get tired of hearing the underpaid/overworked propaganda. My aunt was a teacher and used to b**** about it constantly and decided to hang it up so she join the ranks of the adequately paid office workers. Yeah.....that lasted about a year and a half and she ran back to teaching. Didn't hear too many complaints about it after that. I think that since so many of them have never done anything outside of education they forget how much time they really have off. They graduate from high school and college then immediately start working. They take for granted that not everyone has the entire summer and every holiday in the book off and goes home at 4pm everyday without even asking for it. |

I dated a girl who did that. She and I didn't really get a long. I'm fairly laid back, and she was type A to a 't'. The kind that has the cell phone/crackberry glued to her ear all the time. Kinda pushy and fairly obnoxious, at least to me. I spend a considerable amount of effort to make my life as hassle free as possible...you know, do a lot of stuff in advance, so I can be lazy and lay around. Drove her NUTS. No reflection on your fiance', tho. I realize that kind of job requires a certain type of "go", but man, you don't have to take it home with you. Nu |

My problem with is not with the contractors themselves but the fact that the DOD could have used that money to first properly supply the soldiers. Think of the average soldier in a combat zone. He is under paid and not properly equipt. He then sees a contractor drive by fully armed, equipt and to pour salt on the wound, better paid. This causes soldiers to leave the service and go to the private security field. Further decreasing our military man power, losing good leaders and combat experience soldiers within the military. If the US had excess funds after being able to provide soldiers with better equipment then I would have no objections to contracting out but that has never been the case. Dedicated soldiers that are willing to go to a combat zone for his/her country should not be taken for granted by its leaders with low quality or lack of equipment. And then pay billions to contractor companies that use the same money to buy top rated equipment for their contractors and still turn a HUGE profit. Something in this just doesn't add up.
Semper Fi HMLA-775 Im not getting into alot of the details, but when you shoot someone they should die... Not keep running at you... We need bigger rounds. The body armor is antiquated. Don't even get me started on our vehicles... We should just get together at a bar and get tanked. I owe rascal a beer anyhow. |

please. Teachers take the cake in the whining category. (At least the ones that never worked a real job before becoming a teacher.)
They get every fake and real holiday off (2 weeks for christmas and new years, a week for easter), every summer off, and they even get off when it snows out. Countless half days too. Yet they still make more than most people that have the same degree and work 12 months out of the year instead of 8. The only one I know that doesn't ***** about it is my friend Frank, because he did a corporate gig for a year before ditching it to become a teacher. he knows what the real working world is like and thinks he now has the "Best and easiest job in the world" yet talk to some other spoiled brat that never had to work thru college or highschool and they will tell you just the opposite. I have no sympathy for them. |
Hrm, whining about whining? Just giving you guys crap.
Secondly, Thanks for all the guys posting that have and are serving the country, I thank you! Thirdly, what was this about again? Oh yeah, it's hitting everyone, and I think most folks are just outright nervouse. Hopefully sooner than later the country as a whole will have something else to talk about. |
