$200m

No matter your opinion of stimulus bill/law as a whole, specifically how do you feel about how the FAA's infrastructure only got $200M  . Will that even scratch the surface of updating Americas ATC systems?

**DISCLAIMER** I'm not attempting to start a political debate as I recognize politically centered posts aren't authorized on APC Forums....

For a representative list (not complete) of the spending/stimulus in the bill click the following link:

I suppose everyone who has read my post is either in "shock'n'awe" over the bill (good or bad shock'n'awe) or it's being considered flame bait. I actually thought it would lead to good, apolitical, discussion. Oh well.

Also not going down the political path, but as a point of clarification:

FAA infrastructure improvements are historically part the appropriations process rather than the "economic stimulus".

Although you could argue that the developement and integration of a new system would stimulate a new industry(or just modernize an old one). Regardless, it'd put some money where it is desperately needed!!!!

Personally I don't think the juice is worth the squeeze... also I can see some EPA vs. FAA stuff down the road... just my opinion

I think it is very hard to define "stimulus," and much of the debate arises from people's interpretation of it.

As far as updating America's ATC systems, I doubt that money will do anything noticeable, but as Ewfflyer puts it, it certainly does put money (however small) where it is desperately needed.

In sort of an odd-way, I suppose this way we can be sure the money goes where it is most needed. For example, if I know I only have $10 for gas this week, I will have to be very conscientious as to where I drive. If I had $100 for gas I may make a few, "less important" trips with my car... just food for though.

Our ATC system is "semi-adequate." I agree a $200m shot in the arm will help, some-----so long as user fee's are not included in the picture.
