So by your analysis, Virgin America should be thrown in jail along with everyone else that loses money to screw over the competition.

Sorry, but these prices are what should be charged.
Max chill man. Some people are so uptight. If the prices were more even across the board, mabey airlines woulden't have such a hard time turning a profit. Instead thet try to make up for a loss by a gouge at another place. I agree with a sucessfull buisness. But who said anything about people being jailed. Hot topic for you is it?

You complained about them gouging you.

As for losing money in markets and then making it up in others, then maybe low cost carriers should stop going into markets and pricing to lose. Long Beach is low because JetBlue can't sell tickets there with John-Wayne and LAX right next to it. Maybe if CVG had 2 major surrounding airports it would be the same.

CVG is priced the way they all should be.

It's difficult to do a study on what people are actually paying. It's probably somewhat less than the study indicates, at least at the high fare terminals. For walk-up fares the studies are accurate, but that's like walking into an auto dealer and paying sticker price. Your back has to be against a wall to pay that much, o/w it's a tax on stupidity.
How true, last April I bought a roundtrip ticket from CVG-MCO to go to a friends wedding. I pad 280 bucks for a direct flight. I watched the flights for about 2 months before buying the ticket 3 months in advance...the prices varied from 400-600 dollars and all of a sudden I saw the 280 fare and pounced on it.

I also remember reading some palce that if you purchase a ticket and later fidn the same class of ticket on the same flight cheaper later the airline has to refund you the difference, it is up to the customer to do the leg work...so customers can get a little relief if they pay attention
