Samsung 67" LED or Mitsubishi Diamond?
You'd think after 20+ years of marriage my husband would know better, but he actually asked me for an opinion on which one to get. I fear he has lost his mind.
I don't even know what LED or Diamond technology is. Does anybody else?

According to Wikipedia, the Samsung Group is South Korea's largest chaebol and the world's largest conglomerate by revenue. It is composed of numerous international businesses including Samsung Electronics (world's largest electronics company), Samsung Heavy Industries (one of the world's largest shipbuilders), and Samsung Engineering & Construction (a major global construction company - think world's tallest buildings). It is also the leader in many domestic industries, such as the financial, chemical, retail and entertainment industries.
Needless to say, the corporate portfolios are largely irrelevant when it comes to judging the quality of the consumer product that vagabond's studying.

Just generates a brighter picture and better viewing angle. Seems best for larger screens viewed at some distance - like a 67" screen.
I've always had good luck with Samsungs, but mine are all LCD's. Go to the store and look at both ... I don't think you'll lose with either.

Vagabond I can vouch for Samsung tvs. I have had several of the tube and lcd sort and they hold up ok. Be very careful about what LCD tv you buy, though. Many companies have bad production runs and they expect the consumer to eat the cost of the repair work. Sanyo did this to me recently- a month out of warranty the thing absolutely self destructs and Sanyo was nice enough to throw $500 worth of new parts, but come on a year old tv that needs $500 worth of parts is nuts. Try reading up in Consumer Reports and checking the Better Business Bureau about what is the safest bet.

I have heard that cnet does not give completely unbiased reviews because of the advertising dollars they receive (i.e. conflict of interest.)
Consumer Reports just reviewed LCD TV's and overall, the Samsungs were highly rated. Sony's also got good reviews, but their prices are higher.
Each major brand makes 3 or more lines of TV, from entry level to high end.
You basically get more TV for more $$$, but there are some good deals to be had at each price point.
I'm not familiar with the sets you are looking at, but everyone I know who has a Samsung has been happy with it.
