flight department attire
 

this came up once before, but on an opinion based forum...

i am responsible for a corporate flight department as of two weeks ago and need to pick pilot garb.. want something nice but a little different

brown shoes... dress khakis.... standard white pilots shirt with company logo

by the way, all paid for by the company

any thoughts?

Uconn finally get a flight department? I am surprised they did not have one before. It seems to be a big school. I would go with the traditional black and white with gold stripes and black shiny shoes. I am little old school I guess.

What do you mean by standard white pilots shirt? If you mean epaulets and wings, then khakis would look kinda silly IMHO.

Personally I like the classy informal look.

Slacks and nice shirts with the company logo. Long sleeves for the cooler months (like nice oxford shirts or poplin), golf shirts for the summer/weekends.

actually, the flight department is not for UConn at all... i tried to get them to have one but they balked at the idea, saying that it is not necessary and a waste of money (i disagreed vehemently on that one)...

it is for a company out of Norwood, MA... so far i am acquiring or have already done so, a Challenger 604, Hawker 800XP, and perhaps smaller Citation or Lear 45XR

anyone with experience in these airplanes, PM me, you may have a job... did i mention i am the one hiring the pilots also? :)

Not that I have flown any of planes but I have heard more than once that the Lear 45 is pretty bad as far as MX. It has an electrical problem with regards to battery temperature. If you can I would stay away from that one. Lear 60 is supposed to be good.

yea. i have heard that from a few people, but the guy in charge of our MX is a former bombardier mechanic so he should have an idea of whats going on there... as fro the XP, no complaints that i have heard of... still looking for a small citation but i do not like the underpoweredness of them... and lastly, the challenger is a little older and rather expensive, but handles international pretty well...

anyone hear of icing problems on the Challenger series and if so, how serious of an issue is it

Hey, if you have any gal drivers, please let them choose to wear skirts instead of pants if they choose! Luckily, my boss likes me to wear skirts, the shorter the better, and even skorts or shorts when we are going tropical. The only time I wear pants is going somewhere really cold, or when the bosses wife is supposed to be aboard. Either way, bottoms are always khaki, Shirts are always crisp white POLO (Ralph Lauren) brand oxford type. I like to wear my heels, they look nicer, but slip them off and put on Nikes while flying, then put heels back on before getting out of seat; We do have the standard dress blue 'costume', bars, hat, tie and all...but only have to don that when we are flying some politician around.:(

UConn, how old are you and how do you go about getting a flight dept? Im very interested... :D
