Context is everything here.

This is a forum for professional pilots, and within that context the majority of professionals won't mourn the passing of a scab.

In the group-struggle over the division of the joint product, labor utilizes the union with its two great weapons, the strike and the boycott; while capital utilizes the trust and the association, the weapons of which are the black-list, the lockout, and the scab. The scab is by far the most formidable weapon of the three. He is the man who breaks strikes and causes all the trouble. Without him there would be no trouble, for the strikers are willing to remain out peacefully and indefinitely so long as other men are not in their places, and so long as the particular aggregation of capital with which they are fighting is eating its head off in enforced idleness. - Jack London
The individual who scabs dies the day they cross a picket line leaving only a legacy of greed and self interest.

My father cheated on my mother, he beat her and left her and my sister and I and never paid one red cent in support after the divorce. After his death in 1982 not one person had anything bad to say about him at the funeral, only remembered the good times. I was there and witnessed the worse my father could possibly be. Much worse than what this capt. did to your holier than thou union ideals. People are human, get over yourselves.

This is exactly why I never will go Airline. ATP, thanks for sharing, I had similiar thoughts, but didn't take the time to express them.

You guys can get in a ****ing match over whatever you want, it's the internet, it's your opinion, karma does have a way of catching someone.

I will close with a quote from a gentleman in TN/NC area that posts a blog.

"Be safe, have fun and respect all you see and meet" It sums it up for me.

Oh thank heavens for unions. Without them we would have crappy pay and terrible work rules...oh wait. My experience with unions have been only than they take dues from the paycheck in essence leaving me with LESS money than the company had in mind. Well I paid every single union due and never saw any action on the pilots behalf. Good old fashion rip off if you ask me! Oh but if you have experience of your union dues being put into action by all means, do tell! I'm willing to bet though that in the state of declining pay work rules, your experience is similar. I have seen some of the hardest working Union Leaders (pilots) bust there humps to improve our situation only to be looked at blankly by an unsypmathetic mediation board. "No Sorry we cant relaease you for self help"! What!!! Union dues arent just to pay for the sticker on your flight case. Angry yet? The truth hurts! Beleive me if I thought the unions were beneficial I would be 100 percent Pro Union. But Unions started as crooks and will always be crooks. If the Teamsters write me a check for all the dues I paid and never saw return, I would gladly retract my statement. Keep up the good fight guys but I just dont think Unions are the way to go. I would love to be proved wrong!
