Pink Fighter Jets

Hmmm, mating pink and purple jets. This I have to see for myself. :)

From Seattle Times:

Pink fighter jets have permission to land at Capitol Hill Sound Transit station, since Sound Transit's finance committee on Thursday granted New York-based artist Mike Ross $484,000 to buy two decommissioned military planes and slice them into segments for an underground sculpture.

Ross will paint the pieces pink and purple, then hang them like a mobile -- so the jet noses appear to kiss over the light-rail-boarding platforms.

The sculpture, "Together," will be part of the tunneled line from Westlake Center to Husky Stadium, to open in 2016.

Actually...the USAF did some extensive research to determine the best camouflage scheme for modern high-performance fighters.

The hands-down winner...a very light pink. Needless to say the air farce buried that study real quick-like

I used to play a computer fighter plane game cant remember the name- but the enemies had pink planes looked very similar to the eurofighter and those were the hardest to spot and shake off.

Don't know about aircraft, but pink didn't work to well for submarines.

Art need not be expensive to have a great impact, I am surprised at the cost of scrap metal here. Nothing like a great work of art to improve one's outlook. In the past many government buildings were decorated with murals, such as this one in a capitol building.

Seattle should take a cue from Montreal, which has pretty awesome artwork in each station.

Monk Metro
De la Concorde Metro
Radisson Metro
Acadie Metro
