Apple netbook???
Recently I was told Apple might be releasing a netbook around October??? Has anyone else heard that too?
I was thinking about getting a netbook and planned on doing it in October when Microsoft will be releasing Windows 7... However, if there truly will be an Apple netbook I'd definitelly like to check it out first... So my dear Appleholics Annonymous friends - what say you? ;) |
I'm a PC ;)

No Netbook. A Tablet maybe.I guess they dont want to taint their legacy by making a POS Netbook like the ones out there.

Save yourself some cash, buy a Dell mini 9 and install the Apple OS.
Google "Hackintosh" I did one about 6 months ago, works great & spent about $330. I'm guessing that anything Apple sells will be more |

I also heard it is complicated (like 20 steps ) to do it yourself on the memory upgrade. I would just be using it for surfing and skype and watching videos, so not sure if I would need the extra memory. |

What's the difference?

A crappy, cheap netbook just doesn't fit in with Apple's upscale and quality image. It just wouldn't have that design wow factor that most of their new products have. A tablet, however, is a different matter altogether...

I'm guessing that anything Apple sells will be more I went with a netbook that had LINUX installed on it and have been happy ever since, but wouldn't mind the ability to put MAC OS on it. I'd agree with some of the other posters as far as Apple not producing a pure netbook. It could also potentially cut into the Air sales if they did so. |

That sounds like a pretty good idea. However, if there's ever an update, would my Hackintosh simply lock up?

Did the wireless work when you did that? I've heard that many netbooks wireless cards can't interface with the MAC OS for some reason, but that was a while ago so maybe there's a fix.
Here is the same link - lots of resource on the entire process. It helps to be a little nerdy to do this, but the instructions are step by step. In fact I was surprised how well the hackentosh community did with documentation. How-To: Install Mac OS X - DellEFI Method

I was thinking about transferring my iTunes onto it and wouldn't want to lose all my music files... Don't know much about Macs except the great reviews I've heard from many pilots I've flown with...

The Dell Mini 9 is what I bought and everything worked just fine, I did hear that some other other Dell models (mini 10, etc) had hardware problems after the Mac OS install.
