What is this ?
 

For the 5th time this year I have heard something about a civilian national security force that is supposed to be on par with our own military.
Any one else heard of this and why would we need such a thing when we have the National Guard ?
What are the ramifications of this if it comes to pass?
One of my posts was closed because someone turned it political , so please leave the politics out this time .

It's hard to do it without politics. Obama made a speech about increasing the Peace Corps and USA Freedom Corps and said they should be as strong as our military. It went from there.

Well I'll try not to be too political, but IMO it is quite simply the current administrations attempt at a citizen force that in my opinion could be the predesesor to a state (read government) run militia that the sole charter would be to stamp out, or report on disidents that speak out against the socialist tactics the goverment will start implementing in the next few years. It would take a few years to be implemented to this extent but these proposals are the first step. Again all this is my opinion of the current state of our country and where this national citizen force could be heading. Hopefully I've toned this down enough to not violate TOS but get the point out there about how scary this proposal is.

APC - - you just can't help it can you? And some of you wonder WHY the TOS restricts political commentary. In the future - please go find one of the 100s of other politically inclined forums.
