Default Line Service Tech.

Just wondering what the average going rate is for a line service tech at FBOs. Thanks.

After a year at an fbo I was making $6.25. It was about average for the area. I'm sure you can find a really nice one that might pay more.

Depending on where you are at and your level of service, don't forget that tips are not unheard of. I wouldn't want to count on them, but something to keep in mind if you're thinking of working at an FBO in a lucrative area.

I got $20 for filling a thermos with hot chocolate instead of our FBO's usual after-hours sludge-coffee at 3 AM for a King Air stuck in the old Yellow Customs Circle at LRD / LRDO once... and never expected a dime. Not policy.

I was getting $20/hr when I left for a flying job. That was my 4th year there, I started at $12.

I was making $10/hr after 3 months... and that was 10 years ago.
