DFW GA Pilots
I have posted on here a few times and as i said before i am not a pilot but I inspire to become one. I have done plently of research and i have read all the postive and negitive things about becoming an airline pilot so i think i am some what prepared for what lies ahead.
Anyway I am not starting my PPL until April due to my crazy work schedule but I am interested in meeting pilots in the DFW area. I have a true passion for aviation but unfortantly i dont know anyone who is a pilot personally. I have drove around to some of the local airports asking if they needed any help but so far no luck. Basically my goal is to meet a great group of guys/gals in the DFW who are pilots and I could submerge myself in that envirment and soak up as much info as i can. Thanks. |

If I still lived in Dallas, I would love to meet with you. I'm on the west coast now, though. Good luck finding what you're looking for! |

Visit some of the "down home" airports in the area. Grand Prairie is good, Midway-Waxahachie is a good one a little further away. Stay away from the biz-jet airports if you want some good hangar talk. I always loved flying to Corsicana and hanging out there when I was getting my private...great folks. That was about 10 years ago, though.

I'm a flight instructor out at Grand Prairie (KGPM). Let me know if I can answer any questions for you. It's a pretty nice little airport to shoot the breeze. However, you have to get the right mix of people in there. Any airport with a restaurant will have people to talk shop with. Northwest Regional (T52) and Lancaster (KLNC) both have nice diners on the field.

So what happened to coffee shop at GPM? I used to do pre/postflight stuff in there 30 years ago. It got fixed up some around 1990.

Boy, I'm not sure. I've only been here just under two years. There was a restaurant next door to the FBO. It now houses airport and municipal offices. It's also a staging area for the CAP. It would be nice to have something on the field to grab some coffee and maybe a sandwich. The restaurant will soon be torn down to accommodate at new FBO.

I flew out of Redbird a few times back in 1990. Is that a good airport for hangar talk?
