See You Next time?

Okay, so I have been flying for about 10 years now, so I am not that fresh off of the turnip truck. Today I was talking to a controller in Chicago and I said, See You Next Time to her. The guy I was talking to started laughing, and said.. Do NOT say that to a female ATC. He said that a controller friend of his said that they take offense to it because its code for C U Next Time... Take the first letters of the Next and Time, and you should get the idea.

Have any of you heard of this? Or is this controller friend of his, grossly misinterpreting friendliness. It sure was news to me. However, we had a good laugh either way.

You can and will get into trouble saying that. I call bull on this one.

personal favorite... I am sure you could get out of any trouble that was to arise.

But agreed original poster is trolling.

I absolutely am not trolling. I have NEVER hear of this.. How the heck could that possibly be a troll? I asked a simple question, is this legit or is he pulling my leg.

Furthermore, Look at my posting history, I generally stay out of politically charged and anger filled messages. With a few exceptions. I tend to only respond to technical natured questions.

Haha you're too gullible dude, and you're dangerous :D I say it all the time and haven't yet been disciplined...good seeing ya on here!

Never heard that one. But ya always want to be careful.

I have heard of this play on words so he wasn't pulling your leg. But I have never heard of anybody getting in trouble. I wouldn't worry about it. There is NO WAY of getting in trouble for such a common saying.

I have heard the same story from multiple CAs @ NWA. I dont know if it's true or not, but it is funny. Also, you rarely hear anyone say that phrase so it makes you wonder. ;)
