APC Chat
 

I was thinking the other day about how it would be cool to have a forum chat feature. You'd log in and have access to a list of other registered members who are online, with the option to start a Facebook-style chat with them on the bottom of the screen. Whaddy'all think?

Planespotta, I'll chat with you! I have to charge you for my valuable time though, but since you are a member of good standing, I'll cut my fee in half. And now if only I could get TonyC to join us.

The real question is why YOU would want to chat with ME.

Imagine the name calling and flamebait that could occur - but in REAL TIME! :eek::(

I don't know - are chats available in other types of forums?
It seems that even the comments at the bottom of YouTube vidoes end up in the same junior high type of behavior most of the time.

Maybe chat should be left between **friends** :o

Yeah I was thinking something along the lines of that - having a list of friends who you could chat with. That, or sending a chat "invite" and the recipient having to accept it to chat . . . just thought this would be a cool way to get responses quicker and to get to know other members better.

Vagabond, I think we'd need to add a video chat feature for your requests, especially that three-way (chat) with TonyC . . . let's not get too far ahead of ourselves ;)

I don't see live chat on APC, but in your user profile you can set a number of IM handles that will allow you to send and receive IMs from other users.

I would say that TonyC can be found in LiveChat! in The Bored Room by *************.com, but that might sound like a shameless plug. ;) Instead, I'll just say there are ways to make it happen.

Just FYI, PPRuNe has a chat and it is an IB owned website.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

While we are suggesting changes, any chance the number of views/posts to become a "hot topic" will change? With the amount of users APC has now, nearly every thread is hot.
