The new "Bachelor" is an airline pilot

Jake Pavelka, is running around on a TV show attempting to show off the glamurous life of an airline pilot... This guy flies for one of the worst paying regional's. Instead of trying to live a false life of a tv show, he should have "A day in the life" of a regional pilot. Government issued cheese, endless supply of Top Ramen, and once in a while being able to supersize that value meal! Just my .02

yamahas3 12-08-2009 08:28 AM

They should make all of the contestants be flight attendants.

Feel better?

1. This story broke... um... ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO! Duh!
2. He works for ASA. ASA is actually one of the best paid regionals... way to show your ignorance.
3. Way to bash regional pilots. Thanks for the flamebait. Now go back to Flightinfo.

That wouldnt work because FA's know what we really make.... :D

Mod Note:

For the love of all things good and pure, why does every regional thread have to turn into flamebait, senseless bashing and "my geoduck is bigger than your geoduck?"

However, I'm in an expansive and lenient mood this morning so I'll keep this thread open for a bit. The next poster who can't follow simple Terms of Service rules will be iced and this thread closed.

Jetset0045 12-08-2009 04:50 PM

Kinda sad that a pilot had to go on a reality tv show to pick up chicks....

He obviously wasn't one of my students!!! :D

Luv 2 Rotate, Don't be such a hater! Jake is HOT! When you are as good looking as Jake, money is not an issue. Besides, by the time the show is over he will triple his pilot salary. Considering that most pilots are unattractive, overweight, cheap dorks, you should thank Jake for bringing some positive attention to the profession.

usmc-sgt 12-19-2009 08:07 PM

Hey! I am in great shape...but I suppose that isnt enough for to compensate for the fact that my hair is thinning, I am cheap, very egotistical, and married.

Ok, never mind. Except for the fat part I suppose you were right.

What positive attention? You mean from 18-21 year old girls who think all that matters is that the pilot/guy is "hot." Sorry sweetie but I stopped caring about what the clueless Twilight watching demoraphic thinks.

What I will enjoy is watching 20+ women cry on TV when they learn that their "true love" Jake was sleeping with all of the girls on the show and was playing them all. The beauty is he will be able to do this because all the girls on the show only cared that he was "hot."

You should have been on this show.

AmberLamb 01-04-2010 01:39 PM

Anyone going to watch tonight?

Tonight is Jake (the pilots) first show, this season has some beautiful bachelorettes, one is a (beautiful) commercial pilot, and Gia another beautiful Maxim model. I would much rather hear feedback from this forum than ABC's.

I didn't care much for Jake when he was a bachelor on the last show after he cried on the balcony after having just one date with the last bachelorette. The show is playing up the whole pilot persona, a picture of the bachelorettes in flight attendants uniforms on the wing of the plane, etc... I'm not a pilot, however I do read this forum, I am married to one if that counts:)

kalyx522 01-04-2010 04:21 PM

I've never watched this show before but I couldnt help but be curious this time. and not gonna lie - the dude is HOT! I did cringe a little bit in the intro with Jake driving his bike into the sunset with a jet flying overhead a la Top Gun and why did they keep on showing a Southwest plane when he doesn't even fly for them? bottom line, if he can gain any kind of financial security through doing this show while having fun with 25 attractive ladies (and possibly meet his soulmate?), good on him!

Toast1927 01-04-2010 05:15 PM

New Bachelor from ASA

I cant believe this isn't mentioned on this site. At least some poor regional slob found a way out. Although they keep showing a SWA 737, whats up with that?

MrWalk 01-04-2010 05:15 PM

Soulmate. Hahaha. Sorry, don't mean to offend or belittle the concept, but it gets funnier to me the older I get (and the more wives I have get PO'd at me when they decide I'm not theirs). Apparently, souls do not mate for life. :D

RAHPilot5 01-04-2010 05:18 PM

ok ummmm seriously...what are the odds that 2 exact posts at the same time.

He is in the pool at SWA, just waiting a class date.

yeah that makes more sense.. I thought they were showing a SWA jet instead of a CRJ because it wouldn't look quite as impressive.. lol

Yep, exactly, kalyx522. I like to think of the "soul pool." Some people are in it with you, most are not, and it takes a while to mingle around the thing.

saxman66 01-04-2010 06:23 PM

This is Hollywood here. Why would they show a little tiny RJ, when they could put him in a 737 or something big.

Any ASA'ers fly with this guy?

Purpltail 01-05-2010 09:15 AM

The Bachelor...ASA Captain?

I'm trying to figure out who this dude flies for. Everyone talks about how "loaded" this guy is! What a joke! He's photographed in front of a corporate jet; but some say he works for ASA? Anyone?

Come on. They can't show the names of things..... note the motorcycle is even blocked out as to brand. The plane he's "starting up" is a B737 classic, of undisclosed origin. The plane that flies overhead at the end is a B707 or DC-8. The second Southwest B737 is even photoshop'd from blue to green-ish.

When he puts on his hat, even that is taped over.

It's TV !!!!

Purpltail 01-05-2010 09:24 AM

That is my point...where does he work?

DIESEL 01-05-2010 09:25 AM

‘Bachelor’ Jake Pavelka Is a Pilot for Atlantic Southeast Airlines
By Bryce Longton October 21, 2009
The latest Bachelor dangled in front of the smacking lips of reality-show gold-diggers happens to be an airline pilot. So macho! While he's no Sully, he is a handsome dude with a million-dollar smile. His name is Jake Pavelka, and incredibly he's actually a former Bachelorette reject, where Jillian Harris booted his ass off of the show for being "too perfect," whatever that means. This will mark the 14th season of The Bachelor and will surely feature high-flying stunts, most likely in some form of the mile-high club, just because the show can't help itself. Jake currently pilots for "Atlantic Southeast Airlines," which is apparently not made up, and has been flying planes since 2000.
Jake will be hanging up his wings for a few months to film the show, which is cutely called ”The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love”. TB:OTWOL is expected to start filming later this month and will air in early 2010. Even though Jake was a one-time aspiring actor (he starred in a bit part on Walker: Texas Ranger!), he swears he’s not going on the show to become famous. As Jake told People, “I’m here to fall in love.” Aren’t we all, Jake, aren’t we all.

twebb 01-05-2010 09:26 AM

Flightinfo has a thread about it. I guess he flies for ASA, is a checkairman, and some were saying they make about 140K. They were also saying he has a trust fund. So he could very well be loaded, but I don't know.

SoCalGuy 01-05-2010 09:34 AM

WOW....the "CHEEZE" is laid thick here

The Newest 'Bachelor' is a Pilot for Atlantic Southeast Airlines || Jaunted

acl65pilot 01-05-2010 09:36 AM

He was a childhood actor that was on 90210, and Walker Texas Ranger. He has money.
He also is a ASA CA that is in the pool at WN.

I have flown with him and he is a good guy. Probably better than most of us.

Perhaps why Southwest planes showed up twice in the show last night.

By the way, did you notice that few of these girls are professionals. Waitress, hair dresser, make-up, model (ho?), entrepreneur (ho?), commercial pilot (read CFI), etc.

One was a school teacher, one an ANG officer (but apparently not pilot). If he had been a doctor, like most of his family is, would he have better chicks to pick from?

TurboDog 01-05-2010 09:51 AM

So I watched and I about died laughing when they asked him if he would give up flying if he met a woman who hated flying.

The Miller Lite commercial came to mind when the girls asks whether or not he would give up his Miller Lite for her. He asks how high the cliff is.

HoursHore 01-05-2010 12:17 PM

There was a FDX guy (Hunter Ellis) who parlayed his stint on Survivor Africa into hosting a few shows on History channel. Think he does that stuff exclusively now.

alwaysfly 03-09-2010 08:37 PM

Someone mentioned they thought he was in the 737 training pool for SWA- could this explain the time he had off to do the show and now to do
Dancing with the Stars?

I believe this is correct. I've talked with a guy who was in his interview group.
