First Guitar

I need to buy a guitar here for a friend to deliver(via me) overseas. It's for a 12 year old kid. Looking for acoustic no more than $150. I'll need to buy it sometime tomorrow.
Thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks.

Baby Taylors are high-quality, acoustic guitars that run just under 300. I'd check those out. Anything less expensive, and you're buying something of dubious quality and longevity.

Lots to choose from

Slice:

You should be able to buy a pretty good guitar for $150-200 bucks; but for a 12-yr old, a $99 axe would do the trick.

If there's a Guitar Center or other large music store in your area, check them out. Otherwise, Musician'sfriend.com, zzounds.com, or Music123 have a good selection.

Here's one link for comparison:

Thanks. Yeah, it's not my $ so I have my orders. I'm just the UPS man dropping it off. ;)

Addenda

My first was a Yamaha, the specific model is no longer made, but for $170 bucks, was a fine instrument to learn on, and I still play it.

Complete with brown shirt? :)

I have a Martin; they are fantastic guitars. Highly, highly recommended, although finding one in that price range may be difficult. I've also played a Yamaha; they are decent instruments in your price range.

Thanks guys. I've seen a few Yamaha's in the range. Are the lower end Ibanez and good?

I had that for my first guitar. Its a good one to learn on and has good tone. The action on my was a little harder than I prefer, but it built a strong hand. For the price, its a good deal, especially since it comes with a case as well.
