Just curious... does anyone know what is with the onslaught of air disaster pseudo-docs on tv lately? The upcoming TWA 800 anniversary?
First, the air emergency marathon on National Geographic Monday night and... and I just saw a preview for a CNN special for this upcoming weekend (the tagline is "why YOU are NOT SAFE on an AIRBUS" or something...).
What do you think of these kinds of shows? Do you think they have a measureable effect on the flying public?

Just like any "news show" these days, the content is there to attract viewers so they can watch advertisements. The more outrageous the content, the bigger the potential audience. Follow the money, the TV networks (yes even NG) are a business. How much of what you see on TV has true merit, or is it a series of three second sound bites in between commercials?
