Default Pilot killed in LaGrange plane crash

Authorities say the pilot of a small plane was killed when the aircraft crashed in a rural Hudson Valley town.

Lt. John Watterson of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office says the pilot was the only person on board the plane when it crashed shortly before noon.

A Dutchess County medical investigator is headed to the scene of a small plane crash on Skidmore Road in LaGrange, according to Dutchess County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Kari Reiber.

FAA officials say the plane is a twin-engine Beech B95 registered to Antonio D. Espinal of Yonkers. Officials didn’t know the plane’s origination and destination.

Police and emergency officials responded to the plane crash off Skidmore Road in LaGrange, Dutchess County Undersheriff Kirk Imperati said.

The small plane had reportedly been on fire and at least one person may have been trapped inside.

A woman who answered the phone at Sky Acres Airport in Union Vale, near the site of the crash, said the plane was associated with the airport. The woman who identified herself as Melanie, declined to elaborate when asked if the plane had taken off or was landing at the airport.

No further information was immediately available.
