Paris Transit

So I'm flying into CDG in a couple of days and am trying to figure out the transit from the airport to city center. A couple people have told me they were able to take the RER train for free by buying a metro pass at the Gare du Nord station. I'm not much of a risk taker and would like to know for sure if you are able to do this.

Any help is appreciated.

Air France offers a bus service. I think it's called LeCar. Will take you to the Concorde Lafaette near the Arch de Triomph (sp?) or Gare de Montparness. Cost about 15 euros if I remember correctly. Risk level: 0.
Have fun,
fbh

RER into Gare Du Nord is easy... I don't remember getting the pass.. just point to point tickets (which you can get from the machine if I remember right), get a map of the metro system... really easy to just hop on. I do remember strategically planning the metro stops to see all of the places... walk around, once you're in the historical district things are sorta close together. Where are you planning on staying?

Yes you can do that. You just select the package deal at the kiosk.

If you expect to leave the city (ie versaille) you might want the RER package deal for seven days or however long you are staying. Otherwise just do a one-day package to get to the city, then on day two buy a metro-only multiday pass for the remainder of your stay, followed by a metro/RER pass on the last day to get back to CDG.
