most of the flying is to Europe, and around the Mediterranean region. That'd be cool, but don't know how I'd feel living there. Had a conversation with a NJME Falcon 2000EX crew at TEB. They seemed to like it |

Hmmmm. The United States has its share of nutty clerics(including pedos); does that make the United States a "sick country"?
Then why don't you take a tour down to Saudi Arabia! And compare it! |

I knew from talking to other pilots that Aramco was trying to renegotiate lower pay and less time off for their existing pilots. I did not know NAS/NJME was following suit. Hopefully this European debt crisis doesn't blow up and we make a steady recovery. In a couple of years that will pinch all these companies that are taking advantage of the current situation.
By the way, it never was month on month off. 35/31 was as good as it got and they flew you home on your first day off so it was really 36/30. Extrapolate that out and you are gone 7 months out of the year with 5 off and you had to complete all your training on your off time. NJME seems an interesting job/career. It is the details that may not be noticed until you start. |
There's not much that I could say about the article that wouldn't violate the TOS of this site. So I'll let it speak for itself.
I have a friend at NJME and he absolutely loves his 35/31 rotation. The company is not perfect and as TimSmith pointed out, it is not completely as advertised. However, given the situation in 2008 when he got hired, it's still not a bad deal. He is airlined positive space to/from a nominated destination of his choosing and he gets paid on the off rotation as well. Take home, from what I understand, is approximately $6,500 USD per month even when he's off. Not perfect, but I would've taken it at the time had they called me. |
