One thing these Seiko watches tend to have a problem with is the weight. Over 100grams and you have a real rock on your wrist and some of them are even heavier. They do not tell you how much they weigh in the ad copy either. I have a Seiko E6B watch and I only wear it as part of my uniform (dressed for office or what have you) because it weighs so much.

Ahh I see... What brand would you suggest? I want to buy him the best watch I can find for about 200-300 $ (or not more than 350...)

I wear the Seiko everyday and although it is quite the tank, I don't mind the weight. I don't wear it running or biking - it's definitely noticeable then, but then I don't wear any watch when I PT.

Only downside I've got is that the numbers are harder to read than some others. No problem with good lighting on the ground, but using it inflight isn't going to happen, especially in a recip or anything that bounces around. They're also hard to read in dim lighting, such as when you're working out currency conversions in a market.

Anyone who seriuosly intends to use an e6b this small in flight is kidding themselves in my opinion. Not that having an e6b watch is a bad idea, just that it value is very limited because it is so small. I actually like having an E6B watch for killing time in meetings but then again I am always trying to calculate things that don't need calculating.

Thank you so much for your help :)

Ok, so if I ask you guys what watch you would have bought for max. 350$, what brand and model would you go for?

I have a couple of pilot friends I've asked, and they come up with Seiko and Citizen. Is Citizen more user friendly than Seiko? Can I get a good pilot watch at all for this price?

I really appreciate your help:)

CostCo

I was at CostCo this weekend, and noticed a black Citizen Eco-Drive SkyHawk for only $250.

Its not listed on their website, so may not be at all CostCo stores.
But, if I had seen that watch at that price when I was looking for my watch... thats what I would've gotten, hands down.
