Magic Jack

Hi,

I've used a Magic Jack for calls home from overseas for a couple of years. However, I purchased a new little Toshiba netbook which uses windows7 starter edition and now the Magic Jack drops my calls after about 5 to 7 minutes (windows prompt says Magic Jack is "unresponsive").

Anyone else have this issue? The box still works fine on my other computers at home and tech support in India seems stumped.

I'd just toss the thing but I extended the subscription last year, so I'm now good till 2014. Not a big expense, but I'm a cheep airline pilot:D. Google phone works great so I guess that is where I'm headed, but like I said, it bug me to have this much time left on the subscription. Also, sounds like they are more than willing to send me a new Magic Jack box, but not my money back.

Skype is free. Not much cheaper than that. :)

Yup, got google phone up and running too (free). Was just hoping not to flush a few years of subscription:(

Just spent a couple of quality hours with tech support with no change.

My luck with magicjack has not been that great. I mean, the product works great, the customer service on the other hand leaves a lot to be desired.
