Where do they get their information? I don't understand how this profession keeps making the list year after year...considering the dirt wages and horrible lifestyle you have to endure in order to get to the "$106,153.00", not to mention the ridiculously high initial cost to even qualify for an entry level pilot position...

I don't find this that shocking. We are in the bottom half of a list of 200 jobs. A cashier is above us. Many things about this profession are messed up, but it is still better than operating a drill press all day long.

Well, looks like we're right between Typesetter (120) and Appliance repairer (122).

How did we come in above Caretaker (124)?

Some jobs rated better than Airline Pilot -

Parole Officer
Barber
Artist (Fine Art)
Sewer Plant Operator
Tax Collector
Librarian
Photo Developer (huh?)
Teachers Aide
Cashier
Forklift Operator.

The list is skewed, Pornstar should be in the top 200.

I blame this ridiculous high salary on Southwest pilots.

If you look at the numbers though:

source: Airline comparison charts

DAL pilot cost in 2009 was $1.488B for 10,785 pilots or $137,969/each.

SWA came in at $993M and 5634 pilots for $176,251/ea.

UAL $700M and 5581 pilots equals $125,425/ea.

CAL $635M on 4227 pilots equals $150,224/ea.

AMR $1.13B on 8092 pilots equals $139,644/ea.

Now that's airline cost, that's not average salary. If someone has that math, awesome.
