a) the media won't cover a "news" story based on an anonymous forum post or thread... they need "sources" that is media 101.

b) I have flown with a few carriers, and in quite a few more j/s ... long and short haul... 99% of the guys preoccupy themselves with either a book, news paper, iPhone app, or something to keep from falling asleep or talking so much that they miss every radio call. I don't ever recall seeing anyone miss a radio call while reading or looking at an iPhone btw...

c) If you fly 1 hr short hop legs in US domestic air space it's one thing.... if you are doing 10+ hour flights with long segments in non-radar or class 2 space, like oceanic and you literally sit and stare the entire time, you are "God".

Okay, here's another tongue-in-cheek title for this thread: "Best things to use as a nap pillow in the cockpit that aren't actually a pillow..."

or "How long can you close your eyes while flying before you're actually considered asleep..."

(For all the media reporters on APC looking for a big scoop, I'm only kidding. I don't sleep while flying and I don't own an iPad. Sorry for joking, I know professionals aren't suppossed to do that.)

LOLOLOLOLOL You gotta be kidding, right? Anyone who has a student pilot certificate and can spell "airplane" is considered an aviation expert.

By the way, media 101 is "If it bleeds, it leads."

Man... that is just sad.

Sullenberger should work on some type of tv endorsement for Angry Birds. That would make for a great commercial. =)

What about those who listen to music while flying?

True. The G1000 has an XM Radio option.

I tell you...I was gonna pose this question in the "Hangar Thread" to those whose flights are either trans continental or oceanic?

All that not withstanding, I assure you as far as this thread is concerned, there is no media story.

All we need is for that Colgan female ex-scheduler to see this thread, call the media, and boom! 60 minutes here we come!

I don't think the flying public pays to to take them to Disney on any airplane that has a G1000....I'll do lots of things as a private pilot that might kill only 4 people or get me violated vs my role as an airline pilot. You need to learn that responsibility grows with the number of ratings you have.

.

30 years ago when the news was news and not embellished entertainment meant to scare readers for ratings, maybe....
You read any aviation articles recently?
