Almost convinced me to buy a Breitling
That is cool!!
He must have upped the performance---it used to be he could only descend with power; now it appears he can maintain altitude. That must be cold...... |

Total Energy
USMC:
In previous versions of his wing, he would start by jumping from an airplane (at high altitude), then light up his engines. He did loops, rolls, chandelles, etc, but overall, he was losing energy (altitude) after each maneuver. When low enough, he would deploy the chute. It appears now that he can maintain altitude while maneuvering, until he runs out of fuel. That's still a big gain. (The human-fuselage isn't exactly area-ruled). ;) |

Four screaming engines turning 112,000 rpm. From his homepage, he claims 1000 ft/min @ 100 kts (330 m/min @ 180 km/h). Each engine puts out 42 lbs of thrust at a cost of $5500. Fuel burn for all four engines at max thrust is about 3/4 gallon per minute! You can buy one here: JetCat USA Turbines They also offer a turbo prop and several helicopter turbines. |
