Default Radio License

Not sure which forum this should be in. Hopefully my question could be answered here... I need to get my Radio License. Im pretty sure the one that airline pilots are required to have is the Restricted Radio License? And it doesn't require a test. A few years ago, I took a test to get my Marine Radio Operators Permit. Since I had to take a test for it, does it supersede the Restricted Radio License and thus can be used for flying? Sounds like a long shot, but hopefully one of you guys know.
Update---just went ahead and bought the required license anyway, but still curious about the MROP. Pretty sure it only applies to vessels, but who knows

Seperate things AFAIK. I hold both as well.

I do like the joke that is getting the RROL...why don't they just say what it is...pay a fee to be 'certified' to use the radio. Total (typical) government waste.

Exactly, because as far as I know, the MROP is unrestricted. So being required to have both seems pretty pointless

Which elements did you pass?

I have the GROL 1, 3, and 8 and supersedes even 1st class.

Marine license should also exceed the capabilities of the restricted

Should, probably does, but remember it's airline interviewers we're talking about. They're going to look at your marine license and go .

May as well just go for the restricted to prevent that crap from coming up. All you need is one idiotic fed (and where would we find those? ) to ramp check you coming in from an international flight then throw a little hissy fit because he/she doesn't know anything about it.
