Bus driver????!!
 

I recently went to a gas station (in uniform) & the cashier asks me, "are you a bus driver?" Even though I feel like it sometimes, get paid less than one & schedule is probably worse than, I replied, "No, I'm a pilot."

A bus driver, wow? Are ther any other pilots been professionally misidentified due to their uniforms?

I was once asked where the elevators were by a hotel guest while waiting in the lobby for a crew bus. Our company uniform does resemble a hotel bellman's, although the bellman probably receives more tips from his customers than I do from my passengers and/or cargo. :D:D:D

Get used to it, because it will happen alot throughout your career.

People will hand you there bags and the terminal and hotel curbs. But if you stand with flight attendants they usually get the idea.

I had a guy give me his car keys. He thought I was the valet guy! I thought about taking the car for a spin but it was a pos, so I threw them back at him. The valet guys at the Sheraton in BHM have epaulettes that look like a pilot's uniform. What's even more funny was he complained at the front desk about the service.

I had just about the same thing happen when I was a new hire 727 F/E, at the swanky Palmer House Hotel, down town Chicago.

I was standing near the front desk, having just checked out, waiting for the other two guys to show up, when these two ladies walk up to me with two large roller suitcases, each. They drop them in front of me and say, "We're in room 436."

For about 2 seconds I just stood there, not knowing what she was talking about...then it hit me, and I said, "Ok, I'll bring them right up."

They got on the elevator as the other two pilots were getting off. I told them what had happened and we laughed all the way to the airport.

Later I realized I should have brought them up, just for the tip, but the van was there so...I don't know what happened to their bags.

While waiting on the employee bus in LGA, a car pulls up and a guido drops his bags on the curb;

"doze baygs arh goin' ta lawderdale"

I was at my grandmother's funeral wearing my Service Dress Blues (Navy Officer) and somebody asked me what airline I fly for:)

I guess it is a two way street.

I haven't been mistaken for a bus driver or bellhop yet but I was riding the elevator at our old hotel in White Plains, NY and two upper middle aged ladies got on. On the way up to my floor, In full uniform, hat, blazer with wings and stripes, my roll aboard and flight case and one turns to me and asks "are you a pilot?"

I said "no ma'am, I just like dressing like one" in a joking manner. Her friend got it immediately and laughed but the curious one looked as if I'd just snuffed her puppy in the cargo hold.

Guess I hit a little too close to home with the Ralph Kramden joke. :cool:

...or was it a copyrighted picture issue?
