travel question

Not being an airline guy I have a question. If you lived in Florida and flew for CAL out of GUAM.. when would you need to be in position for a trip?

Could you step off an airliner and hop into the the left seat and go fly?

Does any of the travel time count towards duty time?

thanks in advance ....

I'm not a CAL guy, but I'd guess same as any other airline...about one hour before departure. Also, I don't think it matters what state you live in :p

If the company is deadheading you, you'll have FAR duty day limitations. If you commute on your "own" time, although the commute isn't covered by FARs. You do need to show up to work rested and ready to perform. Lots of guys commute the same day and show up tired. It's not the right thing to do, but it happens. I'm not sure how you would do that to Guam, so you'd be early or REALLY tired when you got there.

Just an FYI...right now if GUM is offered to a new hire class, it will usually go somewhat senior....seems like ALL classes right now are getting 737 EWR or 757/767 EWR. Tomorrow a new class starts so I will have some more info on their class...
