I have 23 years of near 100% hand flying...I don't think I need a whole lot more practice following flight director bars above 10,000 feet. Besides, I'm lazy.

If you're just following the bars, you're doing it wrong. They are suggestions, not directions!

That was actually the one major bone I had to pick with the most recent training program I went through. They said if the FD is on, you strictly follow it. Not good.. not good at all. Scan first, then look at the bars, they should verify what you want to do.

OMG I think I know who you are talking about. Somehow she got impregnated and after returning to work she would use a breast pump in cruise flight, to store milk for her spawn. Surprisingly her husband was a pretty normal guy but she was...imagine Sandra Bernhard but not as hot. Got the picture?

That guy who flys for any given express carrier and goes around telling people he flys for United or whatever other legacy airline that is painted on the side of his RJ. Don't forget he usually sports the United lanyard as well just to be more convincing. He can usually be found at the hotel bar on overnights trying to impress the ladies.

First Officer Smiling Jack at Delta (Airbus 319). Please, for the love of God, someone tell that toolbag to ditch the whole "Laaaadddiiiiees and Gentlemen, First Office Smiling Jack from the flight deck" he continues with something like "so when I decide it's time to start the engines, you're going to hear a strange sound, rrrrrrrrrehh, rreeeeeeehhh, like a air wrench at your local auto repair show." He refers to himself no less than 4 times as First Office Smilin' Jack. DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCHHHHHHHE.

Just a thought......but that guy could be a furloughee or a lost soul from ATA or any other defunct Boeing operator. Now if he's 20 and has those stickers, then yeah...probably a tool.

But, let's not be so quick to judge.
