I am a retiring Air Force pilot and am currently instructing undergraduate RPA pilots. I have over 4000 hours mostly in the C-130, but also flew the Cessna 208 in Afghanistan as an air advisor. I have a CMEL rating and am going to get an ATP in the next 6 months.
Some questions I have are 1) Should I apply to the majors after being out of the cockpit for 4-5 years or should I focus on the regionals? 2) As long as I have a first class medical, do the airlines care if I have a medical waiver? Do I need to disclose that on my application? 3) I was arrested for a DWI 10 years ago, sleeping in a running vehicle with elevated BAC (STUPID), I did my Air Force mandated treatment. What is the best way to attack that? I want to be honest and upfront from the beginning.
Thanks in advance and Good luck, we’re all counting on you.

Nice to meet you all
Currently fly helicopter with 3,300TT, 3,2300PIC, 1,500turbine.
Considering a transition to the airlines due to lack of salary potential, quality of life, retirement, medical benefits and potential career advancement.
I'd love to hear everyone's input.

Getting back to aviation as a career
your experience, hours logged, what you fly, type ratings, position, goals in aviation
I have about 850 TT logged, mostly in small single and ME pistons while I was a CFI back in 2002-2005. Life changed my plans and here I am 10+ years later trying to get back into aviation. My CFI/CFII/MEI are still active, but have been unused for a long time. I suppose my first step is to go out and get a current medical.
I am trying to figure out the best path for me to take to get a job with the regionals. Low cost is best, but I am willing and able to spend some money if needed.
I am seriously considering driving up to Oshkosh just to spend a day at their job fair talking with recruiters to get their opinions on how to best prepare myself for a job with them.
Looking forward to learning what I can.

Hi! I am Atlanta based but originally from Europe. I have a EASA PPL and FAA Instrument Rating with about 270 TT, currently working on my Commercial and scheduled to go for the CFI in a few months.
My career so far has been in Engineering, working for Aerospace companies and airlines both in Europe and in the US. I am getting back on track towards an airline career and hoping to make the switch to flying full time by the end of the year.
This forum has already been a great resource as I start to navigate through the various options to start a 121 career.
I appreciate everyone's inputs. I look forward to being a part of the community.

Introducing Myself
Hi all! Bob E. here. I am 63...that's the bad news (for me). I have this crazy idea that I might want to get a pilot job! I am currently a senior exec and don't care about the money. This is to fulfill a lifelong passion.
I have no illusion I could work for a major, but some folks including my CFII have told me I might still be able to get work as a pilot for an airline like Surf Air or as a Corporate pilot.
My question is, since I can pass the medical, is my dream realistic?
My stats:
* IFR rated, working on Commercial
* 750 hours
* 92 on the new IFR test and passed oral / practical, all on first try
* Own a Cirrus SR22 and fly IFR a lot
* Salary is a non-issue...not expecting to fly for a major or to make a lot of money
Is there anything out there for me? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi everyone,
Registered yesterday. I'm a med lab tech in Cleveland, OH and in the USAFR. Only have flying experience as a passenger and took a discovery flight 2 months ago and absolutely loved it. Looking to transfer and finish my undergrad degree in biology medical technology and aeronautics at Kent State. I'm hoping to commission in the USAFR and fly as a civilian while working part-time/PRN as a medical technologist as a side hustle
