NO retirement at SWA or JBLU??
Is the reason both these companies are lobbying for age 60 is because they have no real retirement besides that big 401k?????
The third panel included Captain Hunter, ALPA President Captain Duane Woerth, SWAPA President Captain Joseph Eichelkraut, and Mr. Al Spain, JetBlue's Senior VP Operations. Speaking in support of the status quo, Captain Woerth noted that in a recent poll, 56 percent of ALPA members (not including 5,000 furloughees) voted against changing the rule, and a far larger majority opposed additional medical checks, line/simulator checks or additional operational restrictions that would be required if the rule changed. He also said that in a poll of the most pressing issues, changing the Age 60 Rule ranked at the bottom of the list.
Perhaps more troubling was the testimony of Mr. Spain, who testified that flying beyond age 60 was safe. He was questioned by Senator Pryor when it was pointed out that JetBlue was also seeking a change to the flight time duty rigs to allow coast-to-coast turns greater than eight flying hours. The Senator thought it disingenuous to state older pilots could fly safely past age 60, and in the same sentence make a case for flying longer hours.
Coast to coast turns?????? Thanks JBLU for all your contributions to a already SAD industry!!!!!
