They are also slashing and burning to get those acres etc... I'm a farmer and know of guys that have went down there. Their infrastructure is one of their greatest limitations right now. Their weather does allow for two crops a year as compared to our single crop growing season.
Seed companies can take production from the US, send the seed to brazil to grow in the first season, and then return that new amount for our spring planting. Absolutely amazing on a seed company standpoint.
They are a great influence on world markets, especially with soybean production. Price fluctuations this time of year are directly related to weather in Brazil.
