Default "Budget friendly" ski destinations?

Hello all

I am trying to put together a list of family-friendly ski destinations accessible direct non-stop out of DFW. Price ideally lodging under $150 a day if possible.

I want to take the kids and maybe enroll them in a beginners class. I don't ski but can easily spend my day goofing off doing something. maybe a adult beginner class. this is mostly about the kids

ideally

1. direct nonstop out of DFW
2. ski resort is not 10 hours away from the closest airport (Aspen is 7 miles from airport....)
3. Kids and family atmosphere.

thanks

Salt Lake City around powder mountain snow basin. If your mil/mil ret you can stay at hill AFB and rent equip there as well. Other wise I think there's reasonable stuff around as well.

Their is no such thing as budget friendly ski destinations. Unless you live somewhere it snows and their is a park with a big hill.

I used to go to Durango out of DFW.
Then again I worked for the carrier they flew directly in there. I could do a day of skiing, including lodging for under $100. Yeah it was 10 yrs ago but it was one of the cheaper places to ski in Colorado plus its a lot more laid back than other places.

A lot of he ski resorts in salt lake will give you a free day with a boarding pass for that day. It will work with a Nonrev security document too!

Arapahoe Basin, about an hour to an hour and a half from DEN, is quite budget friendly. And Breckenridge is just down the road.

Reno is pretty close to a bunch of resorts. Mt Rose, Sugarbowl, Donner Ski Ranch, Northstar. You can often get good deals on casino rooms, and Donner Ski Ranch in particular is pretty inexpensive and good for a family to ski together. Sugarbowl just across the road has high speed lifts everywhere. Nothstar is more of a "mega-resort", so expect to pay a high premium for that, but it's also there. I haven't skied Mt Rose, one of the few in the area that I haven't been to, but I know it has a high base area and is popular with locals. They probably have some kind of shuttle service I'd bet for the casinos.
