I had to be up in CVG the next day to start my reserve so I drove the 13 hours from Orlando, by myself, no radio, no cell phone, just the sound of the 2.7l straight six eta engine to keep me company. The odometer quit on the drive up but I would guess I put about 100k over the next 7 years with that as my only car. The A/C also died that day, to be followed in subsequent years by the central locking, power steering, heat, etc. There was only one time, in 2000, when the car let me down. Over the course of getting married, honeymoon, moving FL to MI, the car sat for 3 months in the CVG employee lot. After a quick jump she fired right up. I loved that car and would have another in the garage right now if the hipsters hadn't decided they were cool and pushed cost beyond reason.
A few observations:

- There is never anything unfortunate about buying an E30. Although the Eta was a bit.... Uh.... Leisurely. Haha.

- Only an E92 owner could consider the price of an E30 "unreasonable."

- You have owned some beautiful cars. Mmmmm, M Coupe.

- That S54 would look better in my E30.

- We need to hear about the Porsche.

Cheap hotrod - E30 with a warm NA GM 3.8-V6 + Toyota 5 speed. Street legal upgraded everything else. Roll-cage and race spec fuel system. Interior gutted to taste..

30k ish if you can DIY a lot of labour... Chevy and Ford eater, might give you a fighting chance with those Nismos and AMGs too

Would like to see what its like off road.... A stiffer E30 with a bigger power-plant.. yeah baby

2011 e92 M3 replaced the Moupe. Very different car, much more of a GT, but the s65 motor is a must own IMO.

Your rides are sick!

I love the bike! Just as well mannered and stable as their 4-wheeled cousins, with gobs of power when you want it, and incredible maneuverability for its size. I still can't believe how quickly and easily I can lean it for one side to the other while riding the canyon roads in CO. I've owned older honda's previously so this was my first german bike, so there were a few things I had to get use to.... the turn indicators and indicator cancel button being the biggest change. It's also the heaviest bike I've ridden and have caught myself letting it lean a little too much to one side while sitting at light and such. Perfectly stable once the wheels are spinning though. The older K bikes are getting to be more and more affordable these days. Just got mine back in Feb. and paid $5K. One owner, dealer maintained, and 24K on the clock. At 24K, it's just getting into its prime! I've seen these bikes ridden will into the 100K mile club. I would highly suggest getting one!

Loud as heck for sure and loving it! Ill get a pic later...
Nice. I have mine JB4 tuned, plus a few other goodies including an evolution raceworks intercooler, diverter valves, custom exhaust, all sitting on 18in matte black rims. Love the car. Dyno'd it in CO and was making 405hp/420trqs at the wheels.... gotta love the twin turbos!

Ok, here's mine. Just did a trip across the Southwest. They don't allow motorcycles into the Monument Valley access road, but once I explained I was a BMW rider, they said ok. They said something about cruisers getting stuck being the reason they don't let bikes through. And yes, that is my roller bag strapped to the back of my bike. It was a one way bike trip so I had to fly to the bike after a trip, which wasn't at home.

I leased an '04 330 CI (convertible). AMAZING driver. I've never had a sports luxury sedan that handled as well. My wife wants another one.

HOWEVER, the car was in the shop at least once a month during the 24 month lease. First month - new transmission. When it was cold, you put it in 'D', and nothing. When it started to warm up the transmission started to work. Took it to the dealer - they did it 'cold', and advised me to hold onto the loaner, they're ordering a new transmission (1,700 miles). Turns out is was a bad computer chip. Right rear window pressure sensor (I think) was never adjusted correctly, and it would go up normally, and then down on it's own. A continuous problem. Electrically, the doors would lock - then not unlock. In fact, you couldn't even release the door from inside with that little chrome goody - the door latch. You were LITERALLY locked in the car. We finally got the passenger door unlocked, but ... could not duplicate. Rear tires are 'canted' to provide better handling on a road course. If you're racing, that's a good thing. If you're driving around town, the insides of the tires wear out VERY fast, and new steel belted radials are required in about 5,000 miles. Oh yeh, you can rotate side-to-side, but you have to break the uni-directional tires off the wheels to do it. You can't rotate front to back (different sizes). I could go on ...

I believe it was Car&Driver identified the X-5 as the worst used car to acquire. Maintenance costs are prohibitive. In fact, the maintenance on my car was free, but it was still a pain. I addressed the dealer about a lemon law issue, and they conveniently couldn't access my service records in their computer. That was fine, because I recorded every service on MY computer. Their tune changed.

So ... the BMWs are beautiful. They drive great. But, I'll NEVER own another one in my life, and if anybody asks, I would suggest they do their homework prior to purchasing one.
