Credit Check

I heard a news story today that mentioned that credit checks are becoming commonplace in employer screening techniques. Those of you who might be planning a nice bankruptcy to erase a pesky student loan might be in for a shock come interview day. Keep your credit clean.

Very good advice Sky. I know for a fact that many elements of society look at credit scores in making decisions about us. Car insurance is one example. I hear The FFDO program also requires a credit check as part of their background investigation. Avoiding debt and living within your means are good ways to prevent credit problems in the future.

Claiming bankruptcy won't dissolve your student loans anyway.

Of course they are! Not only did I have a credit check, a complete criminal background check, a behavorial/psychological test profile, 6-12 month drug tests including having hairs plucked out of my head to test for past drug use,and a test that measures how well I can deal with difficult people, before I was hired...all by a San Francisco based company, and that was several years ago!

get a life skyhigh

Ya because making too little and having trouble paying bills is really gonna show what kind of an employee you will make. Whatever. You guys worry about the smallest things. "my friend in hr says......." blah blah blah. Everyone said the same thing about my driving record and it wasn't even a question during my interview. They don't do credit checks. And if they did, who cares. They are not going to turn someone with a kick a$$ resume and good personality down just because they fell on some hard times at ONE point in their life....and SKYHIGH(he who likes to stir the pot). If you KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT ANYTHIING you would know that student loans are immune from bankruptcy.

exactly. and skyhigh will try to have you believe that bancutpcy and/or bad credit is comparable to a criminal act. It is not! In this day and age employers understand that people don't make jack $hit. Bankruptcy is a way to responsibly handles ones debt, and one should be commended for taking such actions.
