Red Eye

Just watched the movie "Red Eye" on HBO. Shows a 737 being pushed back at the gate and for takeoff, then shows a wide body cabin. Lame.

Also shows a 737 landing gear when on approach, then a wide body landing gear on touchdown. Lame again.

Whaaaaat??

Usually movies are so accurate when it comes to aviation. ;)

Did you know you can get to the cargo hold of a DC-10 through the bathroom? I saw it in "Commando"

The kitchen maybe, if you take the elevator.[Down please.]

And, there's no wing-box through the fuselage in a 747....you can walk from the forward cargo bay, to the aft one (Air Force One). Apparently, Air Force One is assembled like a giant Revell model-kit.

Also, M-16 and AK-47 bullets will ricochet and create sparks while bouncing off aluminum. These armor-piercing slugs cannot puncture the pressure-vessel of the Commander in Chief.

Don't get me started on "Executive Decision," "Passenger 57," the original "Die Hard," or "Behind Enemy Lines." ;)

What was the movie where the bad guys slid down the inside of the refueling boom (wheeeee!!) into a C-5 so they could take over the aircraft? Had something to do with a F-117...... I turned it off after the boom scene.

Yes, the fantastic accuracy of all the movies produced. I laugh at most so called factual documentary movies or any movie that get accolades for being so accurate. Even the so called best producer/directors create such non-realistic crap they are hilarious to watch. It’s the movies. Just entertainment folks, never reality, now move along.

AD,

(I typed all this of and then realized I was talking about a different move altogether. Left it since it was still within the OP's topic)

If you are talking about the one I am thinking of, it was a tube between the F-117 and the 747. Yeah, they took a little creative license with that story-line.

Quote:

Terrorists take over a 747 bound from Athens to Washington D.C., supposedly to effect the release of their leader. Intelligence expert David Grant suspects another reason and convinces the military that the 'plane should not be allowed to enter U.S. airspace. An assault mission is devised, using a specially equipped 'plane designed for mid-air crew transfers, and Grant finds himself aboard the 747 with a team of military anti-terrorists who have to defuse a bomb and overpower the terrorists.

It was called "Interceptor," starring Jurgen Proctnow, a (formerly highly-respected) German actor.

The opening scene said "Incirlik Air Base...present-day." An F-4 was taxiing by. Since my F-4 sqdn was deployed there (F-4Gs from 1993-1996), we said "Hey!! This must be us!"

Once a month we would have "Interceptor Night" with beer, popcorn, and lots of fun tearing the movie apart.

Our favorite part was the air-to-air shots using the vaunted AGM-65 Maverick.

Presidential Pressure-Vessel? Try saying that 5 times fast...

I've seen and spotted inconsistencies such as those you've mentioned not only in movies but in newcasts as well.
