FAR 117 Duty Time App
 

I wanted to share a free resource that I built for pilots that are using or trying to learn the new FAR 117 Duty Time rules. It is a multi-platform app.

The Part 117 Flight Time Duty Time app helps pilots calculate their duty times, max flight times, rest requirements, and more.

This app has a great learning feature: Click on the "i" icons to view details that help you learn about the new 117 regulations.

• Saves select user inputs (ie: # of crew)
• For use with both augmented and unaugmented operations
• Takes into account rest class
• Time zone calculations
• 14 CFR 117 document with search function
• FAR 117 Tables with active highlighting based on user inputs
• Outputs: Max Flight Time, Max Duty Time, Latest Off Duty Time, Do not takeoff after time, and more.
• Email results to your chief pilot or yourself for a record.

This app does not include union/company specific contract limitations.

Also note that this app does not include the ability to store or calculate weekly, monthly, and yearly FDP totals. This ability may be included in a future update.

The ALPA one is in the App store.

That's true. He may have meant that the ALPA one requires you to be an ALPA member to use it; which not everybody is.

Wanted to let you all know that more functionality has been added to the app. The best being extension calculations.

Version 1.0.2 - Updates
• Now does extension calculations! (user suggestion, thanks!)
• Enhanced Short Call reserve calculations and extensions
• Updated some language to closer align to the FARs
• Increased Split Duty Period guidance and usability
• Updated Augmented Crew notes

Version 1.0.2 is live on Android. iOS and WM8 will be out within the week (after they are approved).
