[QUOTE=DanTheSasquatch;1669851]I know it, some airline pilots looked disgusted when they saw my beard (when I was a ramper). Usually the older more conservative guys though, younger guys didn't seem to mind too much (it is pretty neatly trimmed, not like I'm going Duck Dynasty or anything). One more reason to fly in Alaska :

A neatly trimmed beard on a man can be very attractive! ;)

I look like a child without mine. Flying is more important than looking good though :p

To get back on topic, I really enjoyed getting my tattoo, and I would get a few more if I could afford them. Just be sure you can cover them up for work and you will be fine.

Do they charge by the amount of ink used or difficulty or custom design or some other criteria?
So if by how much ink getting one on your butt would cost more than a little one on your finger?

I'm having lunch in Little Saigon. There is a tattoo parlor run by Samoans right next door. Debating on whether I should finally get one. Maybe a small one in some discreet place. Maybe the APC logo!

If you only want the experience without the permanence, some artists will do an ink-less tatoo: all the pain and none of the regret.

You have just described life as a moderator on APC! ;)

So would you say that BA, LH, and any other airline that allows FULL BEARDS is dangerous?

The O2 mask seal has become a bit passe as well.

Yes flying is more important than looking good!! I agree.. :)

I have always wanted one on my ankle but I feel it has to be something with meaning.. I know what I want on my ankle and it is pretty small.. I just need to be brave enough to do it.. But I have never marked my body before with ink... I do get henna ones on my ankle but they only last about 3 weeks... ;)

I have a tattoo.

I've got a heart on my chest. It has a dotted line across it and underneath the line it says " your name here".

Classy I know but I'm an upscale kind of guy.

What a strange response.

I was simply relating the explanation for the restriction on facial hair printed in the FOM of my first major airline. If that's now "passe", I guess they better get with the times. Perhaps it might be a little gauche too, eh Pierre? (I'm pursing my lips a little with my pinkie in the air right now too).

I never claimed or even implied anyone was dangerous. If other airlines allow full beards on their pilots, then I guess their masks seal over beards or they don't care.

Back to the tattoos.

Now, THAT'S Funny! I've wanted a tattoo for years, but just can't bring myself to pull the trigger on it. It would be wings on my chest near my heart which has several significant meanings to me. It would also be in a place that wouldn't jeopardize my chances of working for an airline. Oh well, maybe some day before I retire.

That said, I wonder if the geniuses who get tattoos all over their bodies realize they're going to be old farts at some point in their lives and are going to look ridiculous, especially to their grandkids! :D
