Just finished reading the book last night. For those of you who haven't, I highly recommend it. If I was a teacher, I'd try to make it mandatory reading. What Mr. Zamperini went through, as well as his fellow warriors and POWs illustrate whey they are "The Greatest Generation." Just wanted to pass along my view on this excellent book. A few great life lessons in there also and hope that the movie is as good as the book.

The book was great, but I wish Hollywood would stick to the truth, it's riveting enough without adding more drama.
In the movie trailer it shows them being shot down, but in the book there were no shots fired, there was no enemy aircraft for 1000 miles.
They simply lost one (of 4) engines, and then shut down the wrong one, which put them into two out on one side, and a slow spiral into the ocean.
I wonder how much of the rest of the movie is 'hype' vs. the book.
Also, I wonder why they didn't release it on Dec. 7th; Pearl Harbor Day, since that's what got Louis Zamporini, and thousands of other 17+18 year old American kids, to join the fight.
